What Exactly Is Willpower

The strength of will to carry out what the World is demanding of you at the time, and the energetic determination to succeed in solving whatever you are up against, are the attributes I believe are needed to have Will Power. We need not only survive, but also to thrust forward and add positive energy to our lifestyles, and concentrate on what is at hand, therefore, thrive to the best of our ability. Our resolution we feel with every cell in our bodies, which is our perseverance, tenacity, firmness, and fortitude, will balance our minds with our bodies, and push us ahead.

Our stamina and endurance and power can keep our heads clear and our minds ready for whatever comes our way. Life is filled with good times and bad, and to be able to balance the two is a lifelong practice, but keeps us on an even keel. If we believe strongly in a concept, idea, situation, or a person, our energetic determination will help us to deal with the matters at hand. Self control is part of Will Power, and probably the hardest. To stay calm when all around you are losing their minds and blaming it on you, is to know the facts, the truth, and to be able to use your moral strength to reach your goal. It isn't easy, but it is Will Power.

We only see one's body, we can never know what is in one's mind. If you mean a person harm, you will be harmed. If you wish ill of another person, you will encounter setbacks. If your thoughts are those born in anger and misinformation, you will be scorned upon. However, if you are pure in your mind, body and soul, chances are you will accomplish your decisions, wishes, or plans. This doesn't always happen, we never know what God has planned for us, but if our resistance to dishonesty and manipulation and interpretation keeps us aware of the truth, we have a better chance of living a peaceful and calming life.

Our fortitude is our courage, our fearlessness, and our strength. What information we put into our brain determines how strong our fortitude is, and how hard it will work in our favor. That information must be truthful, and factual, not merely an interpretation of what life is, and how it should be. How many times have we said "Excuse me" to someone as they were saying "Excuse me" to us? Only one is guilty of first entering the other's space, but both respond. Yes, it is respectful, but it is not factual. Both interpreted that they had bumped into each other, but only one actually did.

Interpretation has no connection to Will Power. We first need to know the facts, the truth, and the reasons behind what we are doing in our lives. Once we are firm in our beliefs, and have checked ourselves through every angle, and know what is the truth and what is interpretation, we can use our Will Power to move mountains. It may take time, and we may suffer greatly as we learn and experience our truths, but they are our foundation, and must be strong enough to carry us through life. Dependence on anyone other than ourselves and God will not work. It's our life, what we believe to be the truth, and what is right. At least, I think so.

We may accept help on our journey, but our development and belief system is up to us to evolve and enrich with the right attitude and dedication. It is our soul that we must keep enlightened. If our thoughts come from a place of love and honesty, knowing good from bad, judgmental from non judgmental, truth from interpretation, we will survive, and thrive. There are so many blockades that appear before us as we travel on our path, but if we stay close to ourselves, and command truth and dignity, our Will Power will carry us through. It is, however, in no way easy.

I am by no means done in my desire to better myself, but what I have researched and learned along the way has helped get me to this point. In so doing, I have explored many ways the mind and soul have joined together to help me in my quest. The energy of both has always pushed me forward, and through obstacles I didn't think I could handle. Who knew I could have three babies naturally, and endure the experience? Not me. I was forced into pain that has no description because I was progressing too fast to get an epidermal. Will Power.

When I was young, I always worried about what I would do if my mother ever passed away, we were very close, and she was my anchor to this world. I talked to her every day, two and three times, and she left us at fifty nine years old. My biggest fear for years, had come true. It was only the strongest form of Will Power and faith that allowed me to accept it, understand God's plan, grieve, and move on. That was eighteen years ago, and six years ago, my father passed away. My hero. My only parent. My fountain of strength and perseverance. Will Power.

Nothing is an absolute, I didn't have the power to will my mother to keep living, or my father, nor could I will away the pain of my kids entering this world, or other situations that have happened, are happening, and will happen. Nonetheless, I can use my mind that God gave me for some reason, to write, and be good to others, and take care of my family, and enjoy every ounce of nature. I can keep reading and learning and growing. I can continue "working" on life, because I believe if you really try to be your best in this world, it's "work!" How do we do it? Will Power.

Writing calms her, and gives her a place to go by herself! Clears the head and gets it out. She lives in a rural area, with a lake and mountains, and her partner, and has loved writing since she was a child.

She has been on a journey of self discovery for twenty years, and has learned many things about the human mind, and how to maintain some semblance of calm and peace within.

If someone reads one of her stories, and relates to her feelings, and gets a suggestion on how she dealt with them in a positive way, that would be the ultimate gift of her writing.

Sue, it's ironic you would write about will power. I was put on a fast last week with the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) as the focus. The first fruit was discipline/self-control which is akin to will power. It's His will and not my own that I am relinquishing and striving for during this fast. There are other more personal reasons as well to be gained by denying self temporarily for long-term gain, later. A wonderful article and one of great interest to me. Thank you.
