We Are All Connected

There is a connection between the Light who created me, and when I pray about a certain circumstance or situation or person, I can feel the energy of my source of life giving me answers. I don't need a book to tell me that being kind and honest and responsible and compassionate are characteristics that I should incorporate into my daily life. My parents were good teachers, and I learned a lot about being a good person from both of them. It has been instilled in me to be true to my inner feelings and emotions, and they just happen to be positive qualities.

Oh, I have a dark side I can get to in response to a word or an action, but I've learned through this journey I am on to tame the wild beast that hurts inside of me, and wants to lash out. I don't want to be like that, so I have studied through reading many self help and spiritual books how to change the behavior that automatically wants to come to the surface, but will do nothing but cause harm to myself and others. Contemplating and thinking and planning are what I need to do at this time of my life, and that's what I am doing.

We all go through stages that cripple us because they change our lifestyle and put fear in our hearts. We may lose a job, a loved one, a home, a car, or develop a disease that needs to be treated, or may not be treatable. If our connection to God is strong, He will be there for us, guiding our path in the right direction. If we choose to shut Him out, and go it alone, rarely is the outcome a good one. We need Him close to us, within us, so our thoughts and actions are the right ones to help us handle whatever situation we're in. We need to be struck by His lightning, and use the energy we receive to figure out the best way to deal so that everyone and everything benefits.

By nature, I think we are quite selfish. We can see that when we watch babies, toddlers, and children play. We can only do God's work when we have erased that selfishness from our soul. This unselfishness is born into our being. We are the ones who change it, and want the whole cake instead of our one piece. I so wanted to eat all three of the most delicious Entenmanns's chocolate donuts last night, while everyone else slept soundly. They were excellent, however, there are two other people who, although asleep, would awaken and maybe want one of those donuts. So, I took my one, and left their two.

This is no feat of Godliness, it's just understanding that thoughtfulness and unselfishness should be part of life. It's natural, but not everyone has it. I didn't have it at one time, but I learned it. The lightning bolt hit, and the concept was understood and accepted. I bet God would have wanted one of those donuts! To share and be caring, understanding, compassionate, non judgmental, helpful, and loving of our God should all be natural to us. Of course, we know they're not to all, but those of us who understand, can make a difference in this world with our beliefs and actions. We can listen to a friend who is going through a rough time, we can take care of our families, we can teach our children what we know, and the way we deal in life.

This passes altruism and love of God to a whole new generation. We won't be around forever, they will have to take over eventually. What will we leave behind? Anger, bitterness, jealousy, envy, judgmentalism, hatred, revengefulness, and selfishness? Or can we live our lives in a Godlike manner, and leave our kids with the same? God is simply about love. He didn't create us to hate each other, although some believe that. I most certainly don't. I have three kids, I didn't raise each one differently, so they could turn on each other, why would God? We are the ones with the choice of how we are going to conduct our lives.

Whether one wants to go by a book, or by their God given instincts, the fact remains, we are here to learn. We can either decide to learn how to lie, cheat, steal, take from others, destroy, manipulate, and harm, or we can feel the connection of energy that God shoots our way. That energy is positive, and takes more thinking and rearranging thoughts in our mind, but it's the better way by far. Thinking through any situation is better than reacting out of emotion. It takes time to train yourself not to do so, but once you have, life is so much easier and happier. I believe God wants us to love all. We don't have to agree with their philosophies or ways of life, but we do have to love them. We have the same energy running through all of our veins, and we are all connected.

I find it hard to love people I believe to be evil, and there are many. Hitler, Bin Laden, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ku Klux Klan members, child molesters, abusers, wife beaters, etc. So, if I use my brain to connect to the energy that comes through God, I can figure out that even if I don't love them, I shouldn't hate them, I just know they were not good people, for whatever reason, but they are still God's people. I also believe that my main concern should be who I am, what I believe, how I act and react, how I think, and how I treat myself and others. This, I have control over.

Oh, and, the two remaining chocolate donuts were gone when I woke up!

She has been on a journey of self discovery for twenty years, and has learned many things about the human mind, and how to maintain some semblance of calm and peace within.

If someone reads one of her stories, and relates to her feelings, and gets a suggestion on how she dealt with them in a positive way, that would be the ultimate gift of her writing.
