I Didnt Fall Off The Face Of The Earth

Throughout the duration of our lives, we will undoubtedly meet people and go through situations that could easily end our resolve and leave us weakened and battered. How do we protect ourselves from falling backwards instead of moving positively ahead? Where does the knowledge we desperately need in times of hardship and pain actually come from? Are we programmed for it to come naturally, or is there more to our ability not to fall off the face of the earth?
I was sure the strength I was expending to the point of making me ill and weak, would one day turn around and heal my mind, body, and soul. The fact that I believed in a Supreme Being who created and loved me, helped pull me up when I just wanted to fall down. The sense of being a daughter of a warm and loving Father, always helped see me through. The second area I pulled my strength from was my parents. They were strong, they kept going long after their batteries had worn out, and they never gave up.
My mom was a nurse, and when she became riddled with cancer in her hips and bones, but she continued her job, which was in charge of the Gastrointestinal Suite. She did so from a wheelchair. She had so much time off, her doctor's and nurses finally talked her into taking leave, and she spent those last 3 months dying. Her love of family and her never ending ability to push herself to her limit, and beyond, has stayed with me. It has been absorbed into my psyche and my soul, and for that, I am grateful.
For there are always going to be people or things who are going to try to bring us down, hurt us, and even degrade us. We have no control over what others think or do, nor the path a certain situation may take. However, if we are equipped with the knowledge that God is watching, and knows just what is going on, and the tenacity of two parents who taught strength by merely living, we will survive. And because we are on the side of right, honest and good, we will also thrive.
