I Am Fabulous In….

I thought about these four words for a while, and decided that I am not fabulous in anything. There are things I do well, but fabulously taking care of a home and three children for most of the past 26 years, just doesn’t cut it. Amazing and incredible are synonyms for fabulous, and I can’t think of anything that I am amazing at. I love to write, and I think I am good at it, but amazing? Fabulous? No, not quite.

I am loyal to those I befriend, and I can keep things to myself. These are great traits but I wouldn’t call them fabulous. The handy thesaurus lists words like incredible, wonderful, astonishing, spectacular, marvelous, astounding and unbelievable. I can deal with wonderful, but the other adjectives are way above anything I can imagine that I think, say, or do. I have been a wonderful mother, housekeeper, shopper, friend, writer and worry wart, but nothing astounding.

I am honest, almost to a fault, but again, is that spectacular? That’s a word I would save for the fourth of July fireworks in our town. I have learned to be patient, which I never was, so I guess that is incredible and marvelous. I quit smoking after like 40 years! And I consider that unbelievable. I thought I would go to my grave with a half a pack of cigarettes still on the night stand!

I quit drinking for 20 years, and that is fabulous, I must admit. I usually succeed at the things I am passionate about, and have recently put together a book of 23 of my articles, that will be coming out in a few weeks, and that is amazing to me. It has been a life long dream, but somehow, I couldn’t fit it in until now! I am very proud of the way it turned out, and I hope it will help those I will never even know.

In the end, I think the one thing I am the most fabulous in is the depth of the love I have for my children. There has never been the right words to explain how I feel about them. They are the Heavens, live on the Earth, and stay within my heart and soul no matter where they go. I never for a minute, expected my daughter to be in the army and one of my sons to be in the air force, but acceptance is key in not going insane!

I’ve had to accept a lot in this lifetime, and I have gone through much pain and heartache, but I’ve made it to 55 so far, and I think that’s pretty fabulous!
Fabulous!

Hi Sue.

I too think that you are fabulous. It so much easier to say that about someone else than about ourselves, isn't it. :) You are an inspiration in overcoming obstacles and hacking out a good life from the midst of difficulty.

HUGS,

Dianne
