Life Sneaks In A Few Shadows, But Let Us Not Forget The Sun

Usually, when everything in our lives is going well, and we actually experience happiness, we forget about the days leading up to this auspicious occasion. Life is forever throwing situations our way that need thought and focus, prayer and guidance. A simple cup of coffee spilled on our work clothes may lead some into a rage, or at the least, a panic. These trivial happenings during our day are simply life reaching out to us. The deep, hurtful shadows are the hardest to get through and the longest to get over.
Sometimes, I need to be protected against myself, although that is getting less and less. Experience is the biggest lesson in itself. Painful and eye opening, but beneficial. I had a large Italian family on my mom’s side, and as a young girl, I went to several funerals. There was not an ounce of pleasure from the time I left my house, to returning to it. However, experience changes us. No matter what we perceive, going through a situation makes it a little bit easier to go through something similar again.
We have the opportunity to see what we can handle, and what we can not. If not put to the tests, we won’t know if we’ll succeed or fail. Our resolve will have nothing to bounce back from. I remember listening to a psychologist or psychiatrist one time, and he said that if our parents are always taking our pain away, we’ll never learn how to deal with it. Dealing with feelings is, in my opinion, the cornerstone of life. Everything else is outside our range, but to be able to think clearly and resolve occurrences to our benefit, seems to me like a positive step in the right direction.
Our minds need to practice to know when to keep quiet, and when to speak. Not in a controlling way, but in a more beneficial and content way. If I can learn to calm down, so can others. If I get to the bottom of the stairs, and realize I forgot my glasses upstairs, I know longer feel like a bomb ready to go off. Instead, I chalk it up to getting more exercise, and concentrating on focusing more on where my things are. When days are gloomy and gray, I take advantage of the excuse to hang around and be cozy and relaxing.
And when the sun comes out, in all it’s glory, it’s hard not to feel good inside.
Sometimes, we get caught up in the doom and gloom, especially if we suffer from depression. Those sunny days are injections of energy for us, and we need to make use of their positive forces. And if they go away for a time, and we feel sad and distraught, we must remember that the rays of our beautiful sun will reappear and the light will shine for all. It’s our job to remember those bright days of vibrancy, and let those thoughts take us through the doldrums.
We all have our days of ups and downs, and they can pass as quickly as they come, the deal is to learn how to keep your head above water while destiny faces reality and things go wrong, and then, they go right! It all takes practice, but it is so worth it to enjoy a more calm and understanding lifestyle, instead of an angry and frustrated one.
